Audiences
An audience is a named list of people that belongs to your account. You grant an agent access to the audience instead of naming each person on the agent, then add and remove people from one place. Membership changes take effect within a minute, without redeploying.
Audiences are useful once the same group needs more than one agent. A support team that uses a triage agent, a release bot, and a knowledge search agent is one list granted three times, so a leaver is removed once.
An audience is one of the entry types an agent interface accepts, alongside a single person, an organization, and anyone. Access control covers how an interface decides a request. Access is per interface, so the same audience can cover the web interface on one agent and Slack on another.
Create an audience
In the dashboard, go to Audiences > New audience. Give it a name that describes the group, such as support-team, and a description of who belongs on it.
Renaming an audience later is safe. Agents keep their access, because a grant points at the audience itself rather than at its name.
Add people
Select the audience to open its members panel, then click Add member and search. The search covers your account’s members first, then everyone else on Astropods, so you can add an outside collaborator by their account handle without inviting them to your organization.
Someone who has no Astropods account yet cannot be added. Invite them first, then add them.
An empty audience grants nothing. Until you add someone, every agent that grants the audience denies access through it.
Grant an agent access
Open the agent, go to Configure, and find Grant access under the interface you want to open up. Choose Audience and pick the list.
Repeat for each interface the group needs. Granting the web interface does not grant Slack.
Change or remove access
Adding or removing someone in the members panel changes access for every agent that grants the audience. The panel names those agents, so you can see the reach of a removal before you make it.
Deleting an audience is blocked while an agent still grants it. Remove the grant from each agent first, then delete the list.
Slack access
An audience is a list of people, so a Slack request has to be matched to a person before the list can apply to it. Anyone who has linked their Slack identity is recognized. Anyone who has not is still covered by the workspace-wide and organization entries on that interface, but not by the audience.
Each person links their own Slack identity from Settings > Connectors. Granting an audience on Slack works best once the group has done that.
